David Welch, Optometrist

As a child requiring glasses; my Optometrist suggested I become one myself.  This has proven to be an extremely rewarding decision which has enabled me to interact with many people from all walks of life.

I have served Optometry by being involved in the professional association at both Federal and State levels as well as being on the registration board.  I am enthused with children’s vision and laser surgery and also involved with the Low Vision Centre, Migrant Health Centre and far north outreach clinics in country South Australia. I consult in Whyalla and Adelaide.

Outside of Optometry I enjoy golf, pistol shooting, reviving my piano skills and spending time with my partner and two daughters.

Chris Thomson, Optometrist

My interest in optometry came from growing up in Whyalla with my Father (an Optometrist), who in 1953 custom built and established the first optometry practice in Whyalla. I took over the practice in 1982, being one of the first four Optometrists in South Australia to obtain a post graduate qualification in ocular therapeutics.  I also have a keen interest in ocular pathology diagnosis and treatment as well as low vision and contact lenses.

I consult in Whyalla and Adelaide.
