We are a team of passionate Optometrists dedicated to helping the people of the Eyre Peninsula understand their eyes and the importance good eye health has on their vision and quality of life.

Meet Our Optometrists

    Elise Pocknee

    Elise’s expertise and wealth of experience is in eye disease, children’s vision, ocular therapeutics and rural and community eye care. Elise is a President of Optometry South Australia and currently sits on the Optometry South Australia board and has also been appointed a Credentialed Optometrist (Aviation) by CASA.

    Outside of work you’ll likely spot Elise outdoors, either on the hockey field where she is an accomplished player having represented SA for hockey on several occasions. Otherwise she’ll be out camping or orienteering with her husband and 3 children!

    Elise consults in our Port Lincoln and Whyalla Practices as well as consulting in Cummins and Tumby Bay throughout the year.

    Phil Clem

    Phil’s interest in optometry came from an inspirational Optometrist he met during work experience. From there Phil developed a passion for eye disease management, contact lenses and ocular therapeutics and has enjoyed pursuing a fulfilling career in optometry.

    When he’s not at work, Phil is a lover of the outdoors, hiking or skiing and has even trekked through the Himalayas! On weekends he’ll be playing golf or tennis or orienteering and camping with his family.

    Phil consults in our Port Lincoln, Ceduna and Streaky Bay Practices.

    Craig Farmer

    Craig started at Eyre Eye Centre in 2010 after moving to Port Lincoln from Port Macquarie. He previously served in the Australian Air Force.

    Craig’s professional interests in optometry are in specialty contact lenses, children’s vision, ocular therapeutics and eye disease management.

    Outside of work, Craig enjoys martial arts, riding motor bikes, tennis, camping, church and family activities with his wife and 4 children.

    Craig consults in Port Lincoln, Ceduna, and Wudinna.

    Tamra Karolewicz

    Tamra loves helping others with impaired or low vision to improve their quality of life. Her professional interests are in ocular therapeutics, disease management, holistic prescribing and contact lenses. In 2016, Tamra was the recipient of the SA Young Achievers’ Rural Doctors’ Workforce Agency Rural Health Award, has completed the Advanced Certificate in Glaucoma through the Australian College of Optometry, and has been appointed a Credentialed Optometrist (Aviation) by CASA.

    Tamra’s passion for optometry was driven by her own personal experience of having low vision, which motivated her to help others experiencing the same issue. Outside of work, Tamra enjoys travelling, snow skiing, exercise, wholesome food and social events.

    You’ll find Tamra consulting in our Port Lincoln and Ceduna practices, along with visits to Elliston.

    Hannah Stanley

    Hannah’s professional interests are eye disease management, ocular therapeutics, contact lenses and rural and community eye care.

    Her interest in optometry arose from taking the opportunity to work at Eyre Eye Centre in her gap year where she discovered the impact quality eye care can have on people's lives. Outside of optometry Hannah enjoys sport - whether it be watching or playing, spending time with family, travelling and socialising with friends.

    You’ll find Hannah consulting in Port Lincoln and Ceduna, in addition to running monthly clinics at Port Lincoln Aboriginal Health Services.

    Alek Sims

    Alek is interested in all aspects of fullscope optometry, whether it be Glaucoma co-management, dry eye, emergency eyecare, contact lenses or Diabetes. Alek has completed further study in Ophthalmic Optics gaining an Advanced Certificate in Glaucoma and is also an appointed Credentialed Optometrist by CASA (Aviation).

    When he’s not in the consulting room Alek is an avid Lawn Bowler, enjoys Orienteering, hiking and being outdoors. Alek has participated in aid trips providing eye care to remote communities in Nepal and hopes to continue to be involved in many more.

    Alek consults in Whyalla and Cowell, in addition to running monthly clinics at Nunyara Aboriginal Health Service and is excited to provide quality eye care to the Whyalla community.

  • Emma Brewster Optometrist at Eyre Eye Centre

    Emma Brewster

    Emma brings a wealth of knowledge and experience to Eyre Eye Centre with special interests in ocular therapeutics, eye disease management, diabetic eye care, and emergency eye care. She has completed the Advanced Certificate in Glaucoma through the Australian College of Optometry and is a CASA Credentialed Optometrist, qualified to provide aviation eye assessments.

    Emma is committed to delivering thorough, personalised care and staying at the forefront of advancements in optometry to best support her patients’ vision and eye health.

    Emma consults at our Port Lincoln and Ceduna practices, as well as undertaking clinics in Wudinna and Elliston.
