Optometrist, Whyalla SA

Full Scope | Full time Position | Brand-New Clinic

Your career. Your lifestyle. Your opportunity – all in one place.

We’re looking for an enthusiastic, team-oriented optometrist to join Eyre Eye Centre in Whyalla — a long-established practice now operating from a stunning, purpose-built clinic that opened in December 2024.

Whether you're a recent graduate looking for support and variety, or an experienced optometrist seeking autonomy and a refreshing change of pace, this is an opportunity to practise full-scope optometry in a vibrant rural city on the beautiful Eyre Peninsula.

About the Role

This is a full-time position based in Whyalla, working in a state-of-the-art clinic designed for comfort, efficiency, and patient-centred care. You’ll provide comprehensive, independent optometry with the support of an experienced administrative and dispensing team, as well as access to a wider clinical network across our Port Lincoln and Whyalla practices.

There is no weekend work, no KPIs, and no corporate sales pressure — just quality, meaningful care and the chance to build long-term relationships with patients.

You’ll work with a broad and loyal patient base, spanning general eye care, contact lenses, children's vision, ocular disease co-management, and outreach to rural communities and the local Aboriginal Health Service.

Why You'll Love Working Here

  • Brand new, architecturally designed facility – spacious consulting rooms and the latest clinical tech

  • Full-scope optometry – from general care to co-management and outreach

  • Rural impact – opportunity to participate in outreach clinics across the region

  • Private billing model – no rushed appointments, no discount pressure

  • Boutique frame gallery – high-quality eyewear you’ll be proud to recommend

  • Top-tier tech – including automated refraction, OCT, and HFA

  • Supportive, ProVision-aligned environment – collegial, patient-focused, and values-driven

  • Business & leadership opportunities – get involved in the operational side if that interests you

  • Lifestyle balance – live 5 minutes from work in a community with sport, culture, coastline and national parks

What We're Looking For

  • A fully qualified and AHPRA-registered optometrist (new graduates welcome!)

  • A warm, professional communicator with strong clinical and interpersonal skills

  • A commitment to delivering exceptional patient care with integrity and independence

  • Someone who values community, collaboration, and continuous learning

  • A sense of adventure – ready to embrace life and practice in regional South Australia!

What We Offer

  • Excellent salary (commensurate with experience)

  • 4 weeks annual leave + CPD leave

  • Access to ProVision training days and biannual conferences (all expenses paid)

  • Generous support for ongoing CPD and clinical interests

  • Travel support for outreach work

  • Relocation assistance negotiable
